Leech Leech Leech Leech Leech
June 24, 2005 on 9:54 am | In Life | 13 CommentsWell, day one of the 3-to-4 day long LAN Party at Kilian’s house has kicked off ![]()
So far 3 of the 6 people that will be here are here, and already I’m leeching and gaming like there’s no tomorrow
I’ll keep you posted on whatever cool stuff happens. If anything cool happens at all :]
Presents
June 20, 2005 on 6:53 pm | In Life | 9 CommentsWell, quite naturally, when someone has a birthday, he receives presents.
Here is a list of what I hath receiveth as of late:
- The album ‘Consign to Oblivion’ of Epica
- A coupon for an extension of my computer’s memory
- Hair gel
- A pack of DVD+RWs, something I have absolutely no use for seeing as my burner doesn’t support them.
- A pack of CD-RWs, something I have a use for seeing as they’re CDs and thus my burner supports them.
- A coupon for shades (as in sunglasses)
- A cinema-coupon
- An SMS from Owen Rudge
Yes, that’s quite a lot of coupons, but that’s only because the people giving the coupons didn’t know what type/movie/style to get
Also, so far I have made €95 by passing my exams and/or having my birthday. Woohoo ![]()
Thanks to all the people that donated money to this good cause and those who gave me presents and/or hamburgers.
Birthday!
June 20, 2005 on 12:00 pm | In Life | 6 CommentsYes yes, it is true, today is my birthday!
Somewhere around 10 PM this evening, I will officially have been on this planet for a good 17 years.
So you had better be happy for me, congratulate me, send me money and/or give me a card.
Today I shall be having lunch at the local McDonalds with my sister and be bored the rest of the day. Great fun.
Garry has a mod
June 19, 2005 on 1:26 am | In Life | No CommentsLike I may have mentioned before, I mainly spend my HL2-time on playing Garry’s Mod.
Finding people that do not ‘mistake’ Garry’s Mod for deatchmatch is hard, but when you find cool people, it can be quite fun.
Recently, for example, I met a Finnish personthingy that has quite a lot of in common with me when it comes to interests and tastes. So not only is he fun to build stuff with, but he also makes a good chatting companion! Isn’t that convenient.
Why am I telling you this?
Because it’s 3:27 AM and I’m bored to tears (even though the Finnish dude (aRT <– Informative site!) is online atm :o)
Beer!
June 17, 2005 on 12:03 am | In Life | 8 CommentsSo, after the good news, I had to go pick up my list of grades.
After that, we had a barbecue with just about all the people that passed ![]()
And we, logically, had beer there, so I decided I had to drink at least one. ‘Twas my first beer, ever, believe it or not. (Unless you count the 4 (or 5… or 6… or 7… or…) gulps I had when I was about 5 years old.
Anyhow, I quite enjoyed it, although it didn’t taste very good.
About 4 or 5 hours later, back at home, I had another beer and it tasted good ![]()
So now I’m a beerdrinking person! ![]()
But I’m still anti-drunk so no worries there.
In another news:
Next Monday’s my 17th birthday!
I do expect even more congratulations then, plus sums of money or at the very least a(n) (e-)card!
Disturbing News
June 16, 2005 on 12:48 pm | In Life | 7 CommentsWell, I just got off the phone with my mentor.
He told me that…

Results!… soon.
June 15, 2005 on 8:12 pm | In Computing, Life, School | 5 CommentsWell, tomorrow I will know if I passed my exams ![]()
Quite an exciting time.
I feel quite safe, but I won’t party until I hear a definate ‘yes’ from my mentor.
Yes. That’s all I have to say, really.
Well, no. I’ll think of some more stuff to fill up this post.
Yesterday I went out and bought Half-Life 2. I don’t really like games where you get jumped at by zombies or anything of the likes, but seeing as the modbase is quite large and you can do so much cool stuff with the source engine, I felt like buying it.
I mainly spend my time playing Garry’s Mod, a mod that allows you to spawn just about every object in the game and have great fun with the Havok Physics engine ![]()
I also gave Counter-Strike: Source a try but I’ve never been good at CS. I guess I’ll have to find a noobie-server and train a bit.
And I am determined to try to finish the singleplayer of Half-Life 2, although I might end up being a wuss.
Or maybe Steve and I can play together when Sven Coop 2 comes out? Then I can just let him walk up front. Hmm, coming to think of it, that is a brilliant idea!
So if anyone wants to play Garry’s Mod together some time to build some cool contraptions, please do tell me ![]()
I somehow keep crashing when I try to create a server though (ever since an update of the Steam platform) :’(
Oh, and I got a promotion today. I am now know as Grunt Lortnoc, the level 53 Undead Rogue on Burning Blade.
Re-installing Windows
June 6, 2005 on 6:37 pm | In Life | 5 CommentsToday I decided to re-install Windows XP.
The installation itself was easy. It was done within 30 minutes.
But what followed was and still is horrible. ![]()
Windows Update is friggin slow, it’s been downloading a 40 MB file for a good 3 hours now. And it says “25 MB remaining”… *snore*
When I tried activating Windows, I couldn’t. It said the serial code was used too much already =/
I used my dad’s Windows Installation CD. When I tried to enter the serial code that came with my pre-manufactured PC, it said the code was invalid. So I decided to use my father’s key like I had done before.
So now I have to call Microsoft, give them an incredibly long series of numbers, they will return an incredibly long series of numbers, after which I should be able to activate the thing.
Or, if they protest, I have to explain it all to them, and hope that they believe me.
If only my games would run on Linux more easily. (and no, I’m not going to pay 5 bucks a month to use Cedega because it’s crap (and yes, I’ve actually tried it))
GUI Maker
June 5, 2005 on 6:22 pm | In Computing | 6 CommentsI’ve been doing all kinds of stuff to fill up the time it takes for the teachers to check my exams and all that stuff.
I’ve been doing things like… Sleeping, eating, chatting, gaming and.. programming. Woo. Isn’t my life just a constant adventure.
So I’ve been working on yet another project that may very well never be released/finished, the OpenTTD GUIMaker, or Window Designer, if you will.
Too many times have I heard people say that their new patch was completely functional but lacking a GUI to configure it or anything of that kind of thing, seeing as they found the GUI to be quite daunting to delve into.
Funny, that. I recall the first thing I did with the OpenTTD source code. It was adding a ‘GoneWacko RULES!’ button to the main menu. Ahh yes. One of my better pieces of art.
So, here I am, working on the tool. Currently it doesn’t do much yet, because I still have to figure out some stuff about the way the game knows which color to draw where and when, but I’m close to figuring that out.
And now, time for a picture or two!
Here’s the directory with the pictures.
Knock yourself out.
The ‘colors’ directory (yes Owen, I know… Colours…) contains quite an… Interesting… Set of pictures as well.
Chemistry
June 1, 2005 on 2:10 pm | In Life | No CommentsToday was chemistry-day.
Overall it was fairly easy. With some of the questions I had to guess a bit, but most of the questions I was able to answer with logic answers that did seem right to me.
Now starts the waiting for my phone call. I should get it on 17th June, telling me if I passed, failed, or if I will be able to pass if I do a resit. Exciting.
Whatever happens, I’m happy the exams are over and that my long holiday has just kicked off ![]()
